A martial art style that has Angolan roots but started in Brazil, Capoeira combines acrobatics and dance moves accompanied by music. Some of the dance moves are reminiscent of other combative forms of martial arts, as they include kicks and spins. Power, speed and leverage are all important parts of the techniques.
It isn't only about show; Capoeira was created as a tool to fight when outnumbered. Through unique postures and positions that focus on dodging and striking an opponent, the martial art is used to confuse opponents. There are strikes, like sweeps and punches, which are used with other combinations to surprise an opponent.
