Karate Classes in Kentucky

Karate is mostly an art of striking, although it can be useful for self-defense situations. There are a variety of punches, kicks, knees, elbows and open-hand techniques. There is quite a bit of diversity among karate schools, so some schools may also teach grappling and joint locks.

The schools can generally be split into 3 categories: traditional, modern and sport. Traditional schools focus more on self-development, modern on psychological factors, and sport on exercise and competing. Drilling, forms and sparring are all important parts of training in every school. With strong ties to philosophy, Karate teaches students to be courteous and to have a clear conscience.
