Aikido Toss

Aikido is a peaceful Japanese martial art created to control aggression with limited force. An opponent is to be harmed as little as possible. It’s considered a defensive discipline, as students learn how to use the momentum of an attacker against themselves. This is done with pins, throws and joint locks.

These techniques are taught as katas, or forms. Usually, this involves one student attacking and another doing an arranged countermove. Students also learn strikes and grabs and are taught weapons training when they reach a more advanced level. Because Aikido techniques require flexibility and endurance, they are regularly practiced in fitness training.
