Many martial arts styles in China go by the name Shaolin, but there is also a style of martial arts called Shaolin Kung Fu or Shaolin Wushu. This style is considered one of the oldest institutionalized martial arts styles from China. Created at a Buddhist Shaolin temple in China, it has developed for over 1000 years. Stamina, flexibility and balance are all basic skills taught to students.
Meditation is another part of training, and students are taught both internal and external exercises as meditative methods. Students also learn combat techniques. They not only learn both hand and weapons techniques, but they also learn bare-handed versus weapons defense techniques.
